Energy, force and determination

Inner Sky

A friend once suggested that we each have an "inner sky" and an "outer sky".  I love this thought. I imagine that my inner sky is a place of infinite possibility, and though it consists of occasional clouds and even thunder storms, it also is a glorious place, where a kazillion stars flicker. Indeed, it is a place of magnificence, clarity, and light. Yes - this is in me, and in you, too. Each and everyone of us. It is there when we are born, and it is there when we die to this life. Quakers call it "that of God within us", or "Christ Light", and many other names. This is the place from which I feel love and compassion rise. It is also the endless wellspring of possible creativity.  I am grateful beyond measure to feel this depth in me, and re-cognize it in others.

This page stirred me deeply.  I've recently been investigating the "why" of my being on earth. This discovery felt like learning my true name. The answer is kind of difficult to put into words, but this truth has to do with deep love - an ability to love the pure and the innocent in everyone, just as I imagine God must love. Have you made a similar discovery?

I have several friends who are facing tragedy right now. My heart aches for them. My own heartbreaks come to the surface as I open my heart to their pain. I remember then my own inner kingdom where I may retreat and find solace. May you each find such solace in your own sacred place.

Open to Light

OPEN is the word I've chosen to focus on this year. As I prepared this page I was thinking about my word, but didn't know where the page was going. Then the yellow became light, and the light began to flow into me. The radiant fires of life are real!

My surrender page: I've enjoyed thinking about the word, surrender. For me, I needed to surrender to my fear of painting a face, and putting it out here. I love this quote I found by Louis Kahan - "Art is a journey into the most unknown thing of all - oneself..." So true for me, and sometimes my own art is scary but exhilarating.

Book of Days - January 13-16, 2012

These past few days were a bit of a roller coaster. I definitely had my ups and downs.

My Book of Days

This is the cover to my 2012 Book of Days. My "One Little Word" I've chosen to focus on this year is "OPEN". This year I hope to open my heart, open to Spirit, and open to new ways of thinking and being in the world. This is my journey.
